Weekend Power Pack Ministry

Power Packs Project | Empowering families... feeding children
More than 22 million children receive free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. For many of these children, these are the only meals they eat. What happens when they go home over the weekend?  Most go hungry.

New Life CNY has successfully partnered with the West Genesee and Liverpool School District to operate a  “Weekend Power Pack Program.” It is designed to meet the nutritional needs of children at risk of hunger during weekends. Through the program, children are given weekly packs filled with nutritious foods. A typical pack will contain: 2 breakfasts, 2 lunch/dinners, 4 snacks and 4 beverages.

During the 2018-19 school year New Life volunteers purchased and assembled approximately 320 Power Packs monthly. These packs were then delivered to Onondaga Road and Stone Hedge Elementary schools every Friday where 92 children received these for the weekend.

The goal for the 2019-20 school year is to continue to meet this fundamental need and expand the program to reach 200 West Genesee Elementary and Liverpool School students. In order to do so, we need to increase volunteers and financial support.
